Also, gender<br \/>\naffected toxicity perceptions in that female toxic data-driven personas scored lower in likability, empathy, and similarity than their male counterparts. Female participants gave higher perceptions scores to non-toxic personas and lower scores to toxic personas than male participants.<\/p>\n<p>This study offers three main takeaways:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>An increase in toxicity in a persona\u2019s comments results in a decrease in all the measured persona perceptions.<\/li>\n<li>The increase in toxicity affected likability, similarity, and empathy the most.<\/li>\n<li>The increase in toxicity affected willingness to use and credibility to a lesser degree.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We find it logical that the affective dimensions of <a href=\"https:\/\/persona.qcri.org\/blog\/persona-perception-scale-an-instrument-for-evaluating-individuals-perceptions-of-personas\/\">persona perception<\/a> (likability, similarity, and empathy) decreased the most with the toxic quotes since these perceptions deal with how warmly a person thinks about a persona.<\/p>\n<p>For full set of implications from our research for designing <a href=\"https:\/\/persona.qcri.org\/blog\/what-is-a-data-driven-persona\/\">data-driven personas<\/a>, read the complete research article.<\/p>\n<p>Salminen, J., Jung, S.
