APG shows the geographical distribution of your personas!

APG is a data-intensive system that automatically creates rich personas representing customer segments by employing web/social media analytics.

APG uses this analytics data to identify customer behaviors, generates customer segments, and then enriches these customer segments with gender, age, and nationality appropriate names and pictures; customer loyalty rating, customer interests, product interactions, brand sentiment, and segment sizes represented by the personas, … all done in a privacy-preserving process using only aggregated data.

With APG, the persona profile is the interface to a full stack persona analytics system, combining the empathy of personas with the rationality of analytics.

So, with APG, you get SO MUCH more than a persona profile!

For example, APG determines the geographical distribution of your personas, and, and therefore, the customers they represent.

This is a value enhancing feature relative to flat persona profiles or complex analytics systems of APG!

Better personas! Better decisions! Better results!

APG is data-intensive! APG is fast! APG personas are rich!

What do you get in an APG persona profile?

APG is a data-intensive system that automatically creates rich personas representing customer segments by employing web/social media analytics.

APG uses this analytics data to identify customer behaviors, generates customer segments, and then enriches these customer segments with gender, age, and nationality appropriate names and pictures; customer loyalty rating, customer interests, product interactions, brand sentiment, and segment sizes represented by the personas, … all done in a privacy-preserving process using only aggregated data.

We sometimes hear two myths about about data-driven personas.

  • Myth One: Data-driven personas are not as rich as those created by non-algorithmic methods.
  • Myth Two: Data-driven personas do not represent the underlying analytic numbers.

Let’s put both these myths to bed now!

APG: Creating Personas FAST!

APG is a data-intensive system that rapidly creates rich personas representing customer segments by employing web/social media / online analytics.

Here is an example of an APG persona.

Example of an APG Persona
Example of an APG Persona – from numbers to persona in hours! Or less!

How?

APG uses this online analytics data to identify customer behaviors, generates customer segments, and then enriches these customer segments with gender, age, and nationality appropriate names and pictures; customer loyalty rating, customer interests, product interactions, brand sentiment, and segment sizes rapidly creating accurate and rich personas, … all done in a privacy-preserving process using only aggregated data.

How APG Assigns the Education Level of a Data-Driven Persona

The following is a post from the APG Team’s summer 2020 intern, Jaad Mohammed.
——–

Here we talk about how the APG system enriches a data-driven persona by adding personality to the persona, like the education level.

Giving Faces to Data: Creating Data-Driven Personas from Personified Big Data
Giving Faces to Data: Creating Data-Driven Personas from Personified Big Data

After APG creates a base persona from a set of user data by following a unique sequential method which comprises of [1]:

  • Identifying distinct user interaction patterns from the data,
  • Linking these distinct user interaction patterns to user demographic groups,
  • Identifying impactful user demographic groups from the data,
  • Creating base personas via demographic attributes, and
  • Enriching these base personas to create rich personas description.

The above method is explained in detail when we talk about how the system finds picture and age of a persona.

Now that we have a base persona, the system queries the Facebook Application Program Interface (API) to collect information like related demographics such as the personas education level by feeding the API details of the base personas like its interests and demographics data.

These are the steps taken by APG to add an Education Level to a Persona Profile.

Explaining Data-Driven Personas to End Users

Enabled by digital user data and algorithms, persona user interfaces (UI) are moving to digital formats. However, algorithms and user data, if left unexplained to end-users, might leave data-driven personas (DDPs) difficult to understand and trust.

This is because the data and the way it is processed are complex and not self-evident, requiring explanations of the DDP information and UIs.

In this research, we provide a proof of concept for adding transparency to DDP using a real system UI.

Furthermore, we demonstrate ways to add breakdown information that can help alleviate user stereotyping associated with the use of personas.
